michele gibson,

if we're not on the farm, you'll find our family in idaho's outdoors or supporting many of the local treasures within our community.

DG Turf Farm and Nursery moved west from Fairview Ave. to a location on Eagle Rd., when both were still three lane streets. With more and more traffic and as James took on more responsibility at the farm, we moved operations to sell directly from the farm and got back to our roots as DG Turf Farm, Inc.

In 2017, James officially took over the reins and we have never looked back. Together, with our young family in mind, we have worked to align ourselves with sustainable farming practices, the finest seed varieties, minimal inputs, and the most innovative companies in our industry.

Both fifth generation Idahoans, James and I deeply care about preserving our natural resources and bettering the soil in which we farm. We are committed to providing responsible greenscapes for our community, coupled with outstanding and ease of service direct to our valued customers.

For more than 50 years and three generations, DG Turf Farm has been serving Boise and its surrounding areas with the convenience of an instant lawn.

Always innovating and looking towards the future, Daniel Gibson, Jr. and his wife Carolyn took over the family farm in 1986 and grew a special business, which included a full service nursery and installation crew.

As the valley grew...

GROWING. CULTIVATING. SERVING.

michele gibson,

dg turf farm, inc.

WHETHER We are providing sod to some of Boise's most prestigious locations, or to your very own home, we take pride in providing the ultimate greenspace for all to enjoy.

you can find us at: the idaho state capitol building, southwest district fish and game office, boise district blm xeriscape, st. Luke's nampa and state street locations, nnu commons, countless residential common areas, and your next backyard.

Over the years, James has experimented with crop rotation and building the soil through compost amendments, to actually better the soil structure on the farm and significantly cut our annual chemical inputs. Each year, we typically have half of the farm in some stage of turf production, while the remaining acreage is allowed to rest, is in a soil building crop, or part of our refuges which house a significant and diverse population of wildlife and plant species.

Whether we are on the farm, at home, or in the community, the fewer chemicals we are putting into our environment and waterways, the better it is for everyone.  In addition, Having access to greenspaces in a high desert areas should not require copious amounts of water that could otherwise be used for producing food or recreating. As native Idahoans, we take great pleasure in enjoying all of the things that make our valley what it is. We want to do everything we can to preserve the Idaho way of life and encourage you to do the same.

It's a continuous process and one we love sharing. If you are new to our area, or native to the Treasure Valley, please join our monthly e-mail list where you can learn about the latest developments, community classes, receive up to date information from the County Extension, and receive information on low maintenance lawn care.

We acknowledge we could never be where we are if it weren't for the leadership and research by so many in our industry.

As a certified Master Gardener and graduate of Living on the Land, it is our greatest pleasure to work closely with the local County Extension offices, CWI Horticulture program at the Idaho Botanical Gardens, and the Department of Corrections Community Reentry Program.

For the past two years, Michele has chaired the scholarship committee through Turf Producers International and The Lawn Institute.

GIVING BACK IS WHERE IT'S AT

As parents and farm owners, we care about modeling to our children a lifetime of learning and maintaining a vigorous business model.

We do this, largely, through continued education with our local extension office, and our affiliation with the Idaho Nursery and Landscape Association.

DG Turf Farm has been a member of  Turf Producers International, since its inception and we are thankful for all of the research and data established by The Lawn Institute and The Sod Check-off.
